Instagram, one of the most widely used social media platforms worldwide, sometimes suspends users’ accounts for various reasons. The process for recovering these suspended accounts varies depending on the cause of the suspension. Although the recovery period can be either lengthy or swift, there are several methods available to regain access to your Instagram account. Applying these methods can expedite the reinstatement of a suspended account and help you get back in.
We have compiled some of the methods you can use to recover a suspended Instagram account:
Appealing via the Mobile App:
- Open the Instagram mobile app on your phone and attempt to log in to your account.
- You will see a message saying “Your account has been suspended.”
- Tap the Appeal button beneath that message.
- On the screen that appears, enter the email address and phone number associated with your Instagram account.
- Finally, tap the Submit Appeal button on the last page to begin the process.
During this process, Instagram will review your appeal and evaluate the status of your account. If the suspension was made in error, your account should be reactivated within a few days.
Appealing via the Instagram Website:
In addition to the mobile app, you can also file an appeal through Instagram’s website. Follow these steps:
- Visit the Instagram Help Center.
- Go to the Suspended Account Appeal page.
- Enter your account’s registered first name, last name, email address, and phone number.
- Write a description explaining why you believe the suspension was incorrect.
- Click the Submit button to complete your appeal.
After you submit this application, Instagram will review the information you provided and communicate their decision to you via email.
When Will a Suspended Instagram Account Be Reinstated?
Once you’ve filed an appeal using the steps above, Instagram initiates a review process that typically takes several days. During this time, they assess both the suspension itself and your appeal. Depending on the volume of appeals, this process can be extended to one to two weeks.
When reviewing your appeal, Instagram considers the following criteria:
- The reason for the account suspension
- The severity of the rule violation
- Whether similar violations have occurred previously
If the suspension was applied in error, Instagram will reactivate your account.
