Random Group Generator for Classroom
Write the student list, let the groups be split randomly and evenly.
At least two names are needed to create teams.
What Is a Random Team Generator?
A random team generator is a free tool that shuffles the name list you enter by draw and splits it into balanced teams and groups. It is used for soccer matches, classroom group work, workshops and office contests. Random group generating, group picking by draw and team selection by draw are all solved on the same screen.
How Does the Random Team Generator Work?
Write the names one per line or paste them from the clipboard. Then set the number of teams or the number of people per team. When you press Create Teams, the list is shuffled from scratch and the teams appear on the screen. If the result is not liked, the Shuffle Again button produces a new split. Copy Teams puts the whole list on the clipboard and the Share button opens the share menu of the device. Duplicate names are shown as a warning under the input.
Building Squads for Soccer and Football
Writing the names of everyone who came and splitting them into two teams is the fastest way to build a soccer squad. Fourteen players make two squads of seven, sixteen players make two squads of eight; setting the number of people per team to seven, eight or eleven is enough. If you want to keep the goalkeeper separate, leave that name out of the list and distribute the remaining players into teams. Beyond football team generating, volleyball, basketball and tournament groups are split the same way.
Creating Groups in the Classroom, the Office and at Events
Splitting a student list into four groups, building groups of three for in team brainstorming or spreading guests across tables is done in one step. The split runs in the browser, so no registration and no file upload is needed. If you want the decision to turn on a wheel, the Simpliers Spin the Wheel tool, and for picking a single name the List Giveaway, Flip a Coin and Roll Dice tools, are free as well.

Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions
How are groups created randomly in a classroom?
Write the student names one per line, choose how many groups you want and press Create Teams. The students are distributed evenly across the groups and the difference between groups is at most one person.
How many groups are suitable for group work?
It changes with the class size. Groups of four are productive for discussion, and for pair work setting the number of people per team to two is enough. You can switch between number of groups and group size.
Do the same students keep landing in the same group?
The list is shuffled from scratch on every run, so the split changes every time. With the Shuffle Again button you can produce a new split and copy the result you like to the clipboard.
