A giveaway caption states the prize, the entry requirements, the deadline and where the result will be announced. Enter the prize, the rules and the deadline in the Caption Generator and the caption is written for you.

  • Put the prize and the most important requirement in the first two lines.
  • The caption is written in the tone you choose and with your brand name.
  • Mark the requirements from your caption on the Simpliers rules screen too, so the winner is picked by those rules.

What Should a Giveaway Caption Include?

Write the prize, the entry requirements and the date the result will be announced in your caption. If one is missing, entrants may ask about it in the comments.

You can find how your requirements are applied in the giveaway in the giveaway rules guide. This guide shows how to prepare the giveaway caption with the Caption Generator from the information you provide.

How to Build a Giveaway Caption with the Caption Generator

The Caption Generator takes your giveaway details step by step and writes a caption you can paste into your post.

  1. 1. Enter your account. Type your account in the Instagram username field and your brand in the Your Brand Name field. The caption is written with your brand name.
  2. 2. Add the gifts. Write what you are giving in the Gifts field and set the Number of winners.
  3. 3. Pick the rules. In the Rules panel, you can select the ones that fit your giveaway: Must follow account, Must like the post and Tag friends.
  4. 4. Set the special day and the deadline. If the giveaway falls on a special day, pick it in the Special day field, then enter the last day to enter in the Deadline field.
  5. 5. Choose a tone and generate. Pick a tone such as Fun & playful, Professional or Short & minimal. Add extra details in the Note field if you like and press Generate caption.
  6. 6. Copy the caption. Copy the caption with Copy caption and paste it into the caption of the post you will run the giveaway on.

Before You Post the Caption

Before you paste the caption into your post, check these four parts:

  • Prize: Say clearly what you are giving and put it in the first line. That is the line people see in the feed, so it decides most of the entries.
  • Requirements: Number your requirements as a list and keep it to two or three items at most. The longer the list, the more invalid comments you get.
  • Date: Write the last day with the time. Without a time, comments from the final hours leave room for doubt.
  • Result: Write how the winner will be picked and where it will be announced.

Common Mistakes in Giveaway Captions

These mistakes lower entries or cause arguments after the giveaway.

  • Not saying where the result will be announced: Entrants do not know where to look and your announcement gets missed.
  • Setting a requirement you cannot verify: A share-to-story requirement cannot be checked automatically, so you have to check the winner by hand.

Build Your Caption, Start the Giveaway

Build your caption with the Caption Generator. Once your post is live, every comment is retrieved and you can pick your winners by the requirements in your caption.

Frequently Asked Questions

The most asked questions about Instagram giveaway captions.

What information should a giveaway caption include?

The prize, the entry requirements, the entry deadline and where the result will be announced. When all four are there, people enter without asking questions.

How long can a giveaway caption be?

Instagram allows captions of up to 2,200 characters. Everything after the first two lines shows truncated, so put the prize and the most important requirement in the first two lines.

How do I pick the winner by the requirements in my caption?

You mark the requirements on the Simpliers rules screen, such as Must Following Accounts, Minimum Tags and Must Include Phrases. Every comment is retrieved and the winner is picked by those rules.

Can I require entrants to share the post in their story?

You can, but this requirement cannot be verified automatically. Once the winner is picked, you have to check their story by hand.

How should I announce the giveaway result?

Share the link of the results page in your story or in the post caption. Your followers see the winners and the participant list on that page.
